Congratulations to Brian Gaffney, PGA, Head Golf Professional for being inducted into the New Jersey PGA Hall of Fame on October 27, 2022, meeting the career-long criteria and success.  He is pictured here with his wife Allison and sons Matthew and Brendan.

The Golf Committee and the Professional Staff strive to maintain the traditions that began when a small group of golf enthusiasts from Essex Fells joined together in 1896 to play a rough layout of nine holes.  The golf program provides ample opportunity for both structured and unstructured play for men, women and juniors. The Club is active in the New Jersey State Golf Association (NJSGA) and the Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) and hosts competitive events for both men and women.  We maintain an exceptional Caddie Program and effortlessly execute a “no-tee-time” policy for weekend morning play. 

But what separates Essex Fells is the social spirit and camaraderie engendered by the game of golf.  You will see it in the good-natured ribbing on the putting green and hear it in the endless banter of the Mixed Grill Room.   Show up as a single and you will be welcomed into a group as many foursomes are put together on-the-fly each weekend morning.  Stop by on a Wednesday and throw your name “in-the-hat” for weekly impromptu matches. But above all, always expect friendly competition and good company over a solid eighteen holes.

New Range

A member approved $1.2M project was a case study in golf course design.  A double sided driving range and new short game area was added onto the existing property, with the re-routing of just one golf hole and overall lengthening of the golf course.  The addition of this major amenity in 2017 was critical to allow for the success of the club in the years that have followed.
